South Beach Diet Phase 2
The second phase of the South Beach Diet is the longest, and in some ways, it is the most important. During the South Beach Diet Phase 2, you'll find that this is where you will lose the most weight, and you will be eating in this fashion until you get down to your target weight.
Although Phase 1 can be very instructive when it comes to you figuring out good carbohydrates and good fats versus bad ones, you'll find that Phase 2 is when you really put what you know into action. Phase 2 is also the place where many people really learn and acquire good eating habits, and if you are about to enter Phase 2, you will discover that there are many more food choices open to you (and you are still allowed to eat South Beach Diet Desserts!).
One of the biggest things that you will notice is that you know have grains returned to your diet. Although this is a cause to celebrate for many people, remember to take it in moderation. Before your reach for that helping of grains at dinner, keep in mind what your body really wants. At this point, the real chemical craving for grains will be out of your system, so think hard about how much you really want to eat. You'll soon realize that the portion of grains that you want is probably a great deal smaller than what you would pick up out of habit!
When you are thinking about Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet, you will also find that fruit has been opened up to you, but once again, just like with rice, you'll find that you need to eat less to be satisfied. Fruit is a great way to get a little bit of energy going during the day, however, so take some time to figure out what makes a serving or a half serving of food. You'll find that this is quite important when it comes to integrating fruit into your diet in a way that will allow you to continue doing well when it comes to keeping to the system. It is generally recommended that you eat fruit later in the day to stave off creating cravings that will be hard to resist later on.
To make sure that you don't start falling into old habits, try integrating carbohydrates and fruits back in slowly. Allow yourself add a serving of carbohydrates or fruits to your diet on the order of one new daily serving per week. The key is to find a place that will allow you to feel comfortable, eat happily and to still lose weight. Remember that your body is a personal thing, and that only you can decide what is best for it, so take your time and use South Beach Diet Phase 2 to really get comfortable with your eating and to find out what works for you!
