Shopping List for the South Beach Diet
If you've just started out on the South Beach Diet, congratulations! You're on your way to losing the weight you've been trying to get off. However, this is more than a crash diet, this is an entire lifestyle change. Your whole way of life is going to change, and of course at the top of the list is the way that you eat. In order to follow this diet the right way so you are successful, you need to clean out your home of your old foods and go out and purchase the foods that you need to be successful at this diet. Not sure where to begin? Well, here is a shopping list that will help you make sure you pick up what you need at the grocery store for your diet.
Shopping List for Starters:
- Purchase some type of sugar substitute, such as Splenda.
- Get some nuts, such as almonds, for snacking
- Buy lettuce and anything else you'll want to put in salads
- Go with Jell-O that is sugarless
- Plenty of vegetables, such as zucchini and broccoli
- A couple dozen of eggs
- Meats, such as chicken, turkey, or even fish
- Low fat cheeses
- Low fat dressings for salads
- Canadian bacon or turkey bacon
Phase One Shopping List:
Phase one of the diet is a bit stricter than the second phase, so here are a few of the foods you may want to purchase that you're allowed to have in the first phase.
- Low fat yogurts
- Soy milk or skim milk
- Sugar free pudding
- Sugar free popsicles or candies
- Peanut butter
- Olive oil or canola oil
- Plenty of allowed vegetables, such as squash, tomatoes, mushrooms, cucumbers, cabbage, greens, peppers, green beans, soy beans, and cauliflower
- Pork, poultry, tofu, seafood, or meat substitutes
- Egg substitutes
Phase Two Shopping List:
Now that you're on to the second phase, things get a little easier for you. So, here is a new shopping list to consider for this phase.
- You can now have fruits, such as apples, strawberries, oranges, cherries, blueberries, pears, and peaches.
- Some starches are allowed now, so you can have limited amounts of popcorn, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole grain bagels, oat bread, pita, and oatmeal.
- Add some veggies and legumes to the diet, such as barley, black eyed peas, and some pinto beans.
- Red wine is now allowed
- Purchase some chocolate, although it needs to be semisweet
So, now that you have some lists to help you out with the shopping, you're ready to get started with the South Beach Diet. Make sure you stick to the program, do some exercising, and look forward to a new you.
